What We Believe

The office of Residence Life at Kentucky State University oversees the operation of all residence halls and coordinates all programs, services, and activities associated with these facilities.

Residence Life encourages personal development through in-hall programs, academic and social activities, and is responsible for ensuring that students have an atmosphere conducive to learning. Students are encouraged and supported to assume responsibilities that foster growth away from home.

Residence Life also ensures that the physical condition of the residence halls is maintained at an optimal level and with safety and security measures.

Important Housing Updates for Fall 2026

• Thorobred Hall is designated exclusively for upperclassmen with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and student leaders who have the same qualifiers.
• “New” Young Hall is designated as a “Well-being Living/Learning Community is exclusively for upperclassmen with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and in-coming students with at least a 3.0 high school non-weighted gpa
  • Well-Being LLC observes 24-hour “tranquility” hours
  • Holistic wellness and well-being programming
  • Failure to comply and/or violations of community standards will result in removal from LLC

This adjustment is part of our continued efforts to optimize the residential experience and better support the academic and community needs of our students. All move-in processes will take place in Exum Gymnasium. Students who fail to move in during the scheduled dates and times will be assessed for a late check-in fee. Students who do not arrive at their assigned time will not be permitted to move in. Attempting to move in will result in the forfeiture of University Housing.
