Online Admissions

Online Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Admission

All undergraduate applicants must submit the following:

•Completed application via the KYSU Online admissions portal

•Official high school transcript or GED — minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

•Official ACT or SAT scores (minimum composite SAT score of 960)

📌  Test scores may be waived for applicants who are 25 or older, active-duty military, or veterans.

Graduate Admission

All graduate applicants must submit the following:

•Official transcripts from all previously attended postsecondary institutions

•Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution — minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

📌  Some programs require a higher GPA. Check the Special Program Requirements table below for program-specific thresholds.

Transfer Admission

Transfer applicants must submit the following:

•Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions

•Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the most recently attended institution

•Official ACT or SAT scores (minimum composite SAT score of 960)

•Course-by-course transfer credit evaluation

📌  Test scores may be waived for applicants who are 25 or older, active-duty military, or veterans.

Switching Programs? Current KSU students moving from a residential to an online or global program must meet the standard admission requirements for that program level.

Returning to KSU?  Readmit students follow the same standard admission requirements as new applicants at the same program level. Contact the Online Admissions Office at onlineadmissions@kysu.edu to confirm which materials you will need to resubmit.


Undergraduate Special Program Requirements

Business Administration: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Criminal Justice: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Cybersecurity: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Interdisciplinary Studies: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Psychology: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

RN-BSN:

  • Active, unencumbered RN license in your state of residence
  • Associate Degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited nursing program
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8 (4.0 scale) on associate coursework 

Social Work (BSW): Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Graduate Special Program Requirements

MBA:

  • 3 letters of recommendation (professional and/or academic)
  • TOEFL scores (international students only — see note below)
  • Note: International students may be exempt from English-proficiency scores if they earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or from a recognized university in a country where English is both the language of instruction and an official language. 

Psychology-Forensic Science: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Criminal Justice: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Social Work (MSW):

  • Personal statement (500–700 words): (1) Why are you interested in a social work career? (2) Why did you choose the Clinical or Social Justice track, and what motivates that choice? (3) Describe your interest or experience in Medical Social Work or mental health. (4) How do you plan to contribute to social work, especially in underserved or marginalized communities? 
  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a professor or social work professional)

Sports Analytics: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

MPH-Nutrition: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Special Education: Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Post-Graduate Special Program Requirements

DNP:

  • Earned BSN from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • Active, unencumbered RN license in any state
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal essay
  • Graduate coursework in Research and Statistics (strongly recommended) 

Certificate Special Program Requirements

Corrections (Undergraduate Level): Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Cybersecurity (Undergraduate Level): Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.

Interdisciplinary Intelligence Studies (Graduate Level): Standard requirements apply. No additional materials are needed.
